2010年度CAJLE年次大会は、8月13日（金）、14日（土）、15日（日）の三日間の日程で、冬季五輪開催地であるバンクーバーのブリティッシュ・コロンビア大学(UBC)にて開催されます。例年通り、基調講演、研究発表、教師研修会、パネルディスカッションなどのプログラムを予定しております。今大会には基調講演者としてプリンストン大学から牧野誠一先生がいらしてくださることになり大変光栄に思います。また、教師研修・ラウンドテーブル・ディスカッション・パネル・ディスカッションには、日本、アメリカ、カナダ各地から多くの先生方をお招きして、有意義な研修、活発なディスカッションとなるよう期待しております。現在のところ、ディポール大学から近松暢子准教授、UBCから Patricia Duff 教授、ならびに久保田竜子教授、筑波大学から砂川有里子教授、ポートランド州立大学から渡辺素和子教授、さらに、UBCからは日本文学教授陣にもお出でいただけることが決定しております。
本年度の大会は「日本語教育の新たな可能性：言語・コンテンツ・文化の統合」をテーマとし、日本語学、日本語教育、言語教育、日本研究など、さまざまな分野の研究者及びあらゆるレベルの教育機関でご活躍の先生方に、このテーマを多角的視野から討論していただけることを望んでいます。そして、参加者による理論・実践報告・課題の提示などを通し、新たなカリキュラム・評価法作り・教材開発などの示唆になることを願っています。
プログラム詳細に関する新しい情報は引き続き、このCAJLEのウェブサイトにて更新いたします。カナダ国内外のあらゆる機関で日本語教育に携わる皆様のご参加を、心からお待ち申し上げます。

研究発表募集
研究発表は、日本語学、日本語教育、継承語教育などの理論的考察、実践報告、また教材開発などを扱ったもの、特に大会テーマに沿った発表を歓迎いたします。また共通のテーマに沿ったグループでの発表も受け付けます。発表言語は日本語・英語のどちらも可、発表時間は質疑応答を含め30分とします。
なお、大会終了後に研究発表の中からJournal CAJLE vol. 12への掲載候補を選定し、投稿のご案内をいたします。提出された論文は、査読審査の上、採否の決定を行います。
研究発表をご希望の方は以下のものを電子メールの添付（.doc）にて下記までお送りください。

2010 CAJLE Annual Conference
Organizing Committee
The 2010 CAJLE Annual Conference will be held on the campus of the University of British Columbia (UBC) in beautiful Vancouver, the site of 2010 Winter Olympics, for three consecutive days from Friday August 13 through Sunday August 15. The conference will include a keynote speech, concurrent paper presentations, workshops, a round-table discussion, and an expert panel discussion. We are honoured to have the internationally renowned scholar, Professor Seiichi Makino of Princeton University, as our keynote speaker at this year’s conference. We are also pleased to announce that scholars from Japan, the U.S. and Canada will lead workshops, a round-table discussion and a panel discussion. These include Professors Nobuko Chikamatsu (DePaul University, U.S.), Patsy Duff (UBC), Ryuko Kubota (UBC), Yuriko Sunakawa (Tsukuba University), Suwako Watanabe (Portland State University) and a group of specialists in Japanese literature from UBC, including Professors Stefania Burk, Christina Laffin, Joshua Mostow and Sharalyn Orbaugh.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Emerging Possibilities for Japanese Language Education: Integrating Language, Content and Culture.” We aim at gathering together researchers from all related academic fields including Japanese linguistics, pedagogy, language education, and Japanese studies as well as Japanese language teachers from all levels of institutions to explore this theme from a variety of perspectives. Through the sharing of their theories, practices and challenges, we hope to gain insights that will be useful for designing more innovative curricula and assessment methods, as well as for developing more effective teaching materials.

Call for Papers
We invite submission of abstracts for paper presentations on topics including, but not limited to, Japanese linguistics, Japanese language pedagogy, Japanese as a heritage language, as well as innovative teaching techniques. Submissions related to the conference theme are especially welcome. The allocated time for each paper including questions and discussion will be 30 minutes. We also welcome group submissions on a common theme. Presentations may be given in either Japanese or English.
Please e-mail submissions as an attachment in .doc (Microsoft Word) file format, with the following information to: jotaro.arimori@utoronto.ca (please specify the subject line as “CAJLE 2010”).

Abstract Submission Deadline: Thursday, April 8, 2010
Selected presenters at the conference will be invited after the conference to submit their papers for article length publication in Volume 12 of the Journal CAJLE. Those submissions will undergo a separate reviewing process set by the standards of the journal.
