CAJLE について　　                          About CAJLE

カ ナダ日本語教育振興会（CAJLE）は、 1988年６月にトロントにおいて発足して以来、カナダにおける日本語教育の振興を目的として活動しています。年次大会や各種部会、研修会などを開催するほか、日本語セミナー、公開講演会、出版物の発行など、さまざまな活動をおこなっています。現在の会員数は約百名で、あらゆるレベ ルで日本語教育に携わる教師、また日本語教育に関心のある有志などから成り、その範囲はカナダ各地域をはじめ、アメリカ、日本、その他に及んでいます。当会は、会員の中から選出された理事/役員によって運営される非営利目的の団体です。

活動内容

■ 年次大会
CAJLEは、研究論文発表会、講師を迎えての日本語教師研修会、特別セッション、部会展示発表、特別講演会、総会などを組み込んだ大会を年に一回主催しています。この大会は数日間に渡って開催され、日本語教育に関する情報や意見を活発に交換し、参加者同士が親睦を深める場ともなっています。次回の大会に関しては「年次大会 - Annual Conference」のページをご覧ください。

■ ジャーナルCAJLE
日本語教育に関するさまざまなテーマの研究論文を掲載発表します。1997年に「日本語教育論文集」として第１号を発刊し、第２号より「ジャーナル CAJLE」と名称を変え、第９号の出版に至っています。論文は言語学、外国語教育、日本語教育、言語教育などに関するものです。より詳しい内容や投稿規定などは「刊行物 - Publications」のページをご覧ください。

■ ニュースレター
年二回 (6月、12月）の発行で、全会員に送付しています。会員を繋ぐ機関紙として、当会および地域の活動報告、行事予定、お知らせのほか、日本語および日本語 教育に関するエッセイなどを掲載します。すでに発行されたニュースレターは、「刊行物 - Publications」のページでご覧いただけます。

■ 部会活動 - オンタリオ部会
トロントを中心に活動を続けてきた年少者部会、高校部会、成人部会は、合同部会として活動を始め、2004年８月に「オンタリオ部会」と名称を改めまし た。勉強会などの予定については、「催しのご案内 - Other Events」のページをご覧ください。

■ 部会活動 - アトランティック部会
オンタリオ部会に続くものとして、2005年３月に発足しました。日本語教育のネットワークをカナダ東端でも広げるべく、活動を開始しました。

Established in Toronto in June 1988, the Canadian Association for Japanese Language Education (CAJLE) actively promotes Japanese language education in Canada. We operate a variety of activities including an annual conference, lectures, workshops, and the publication of academic journals and newsletters. We currently have approximately 100 members who are involved in the education of Japanese at all levels or are deeply interested in Japanese language education. Members come not just from Canada but also from the US, Japan and around the world. CAJLE is a non-profit organization run by executive board members selected by the association members.

Ａｃｔｉｖｉｔｉｅｓ

■ Annual Conference
CAJLE holds an annual conference with research presentation sessions, professional development sessions with special guest speakers, special lecture sessions, poster display sessions, and a general meeting. The conference takes place over a few days each year during which participants exchange information and opinions on Japanese language education. It also provides great opportunities for enriching mutual friendships. Please visit the “Annual Conference” page for details of our next conference.

■ Journal CAJLE
The “Journal CAJLE” publishes research papers on Japanese language education. The first volume was published in 1997 as “日本語教育論文集.” With the second volume, the title was changed to “Journal CAJLE." The most recent volume is number 9. Research areas covered in the journal include linguistics, second language education, Japanese language education, and general language education. Please check the “Publications” page for details on the journal and guidelines for submissions.

■ Newsletter
Published twice a year in June and December, the CAJLE Newsletter is sent to all members. The newsletter provides CAJLE members with up-to-date information about CAJLE activities and includes recent reports, an events calendar, announcements, and essays on Japanese language and Japanese language education. Back volumes of the newsletter are available on the “Publications” page. 

■ Regional Chapter – Ontario Chapter
Consisting of the Youth Chapter, the High School Chapter, and the Adult Chapter that had been active in the greater Toronto area, the Combined Chapter formed and was renamed the Ontario Chapter in August 2004. ■ Regional Chapter – Atlantic Chapter
Formed in March 2005 following the establishment of the Ontario Chapter, the Atlantic Chapter promotes Japanese language education network in the eastern region of Canada.
